Old Town

  • Successfully prompted Parks Department to install Greenstreets project at Old Town Road and North Railroad;
  • Successfully prompted DEP to implement and expedite installation of catch basins on Providence Street to alleviate long standing flooding condition;
  • Successfully prompted DEP to install sewer line on Parkinson Avenue to alleviate long term flooding problem in the area;
  • Prompted DOT to install yellow flashing light on Hylan Boulevard near the Academy of St. Dorothy;
  • Successfully fought against SIUH locating Psychiatric Facility at Old Doctor’s Hospital Site;
  • Relocation of bus stop in front of St. Dorothy’s to CVS to reduce traffic and improve safety at location;
  • Relocation of bus stop in front of Royal Crown to SI Saving Bank to help traffic flow more efficiently;
  • New street lighting on Dawson Place;
  • Resurfacing of Glendale Avenue;
  • Intersection improvements at intersection of Old Town Road and Hylan Boulevard;
  • Worked with SIR to get Old Town Overpass re-painted;
  • Worked with DEP to get undermined catch basins on Old Town road repaired;
  • Prompted DOT to install crosswalk, stop line, and stop word message at the intersection of West Fingerboard Road and Columbus Avenue;
  • Successfully fought to reduce the size of the building and increase the amount of parking spaces at the new Walgreens at 2270 Clove Road;
  • Successfully worked with the Department of Education to acquire the old Doctor’s Hospital and create a new public school for the community;
  • Converted Benton Avenue to One Way
  • Installation of Guardrail along Richmond Road
  • Fire Hydrant replace along Richmond Road
  • Worked with appropriate city agencies to get graffiti removed from local Sikh Temple
  • Lily Pond Avenue will be scheduled for a future resurfacing
  • Repaired Depressions along Albright Street
  • Allocated $1 million to acquire Whitney Woods in FY11;
  • Allocated $450,000 to acquire Whitney Woods in FY12;
  • Funded $250,000 for Security Cameras at Old Town Train Station;
  • Funded $3,500 to Carmel Richmond Rehabilitation Center to purchase computers and Wii Systems;
