On Thursday, April 22, 2010 at 7:30 p.m., New York City Council Minority Leader James S. Oddo (R- Mid-Island) will address the Holy Rosary Parent Meeting at Holy Rosary School , located at 100 Jerome Avenue, South Beach. Oddo was invited to attend and speak at this event by Principal Diane Murphy.
Oddo will discuss pertinent local and citywide issues and conduct a “Q and A” session with the parents who attend. It is expected that approximately 70 parents will be in attendance. Possible issues that might come up include the proposals to close Engine 161 and other fire companies citywide and the proposal to eliminate school nurses from schools with fewer than 300 students, a measure that would disproportionately affect non-public schools throughout the city.
Councilman Oddo said, “I have traditionally held civic roundtables at my office, which are excellent opportunities for me to get together with the civic association leaders in my district to discuss matters of concern. This meeting at Holy Rosary is a way of expanding the civic roundtables by taking it on the road to groups that are not traditional civic associations and do not usually participate civic roundtable events. My entire staff will be in attendance with me and we will offer assistance with any specific neighborhood issue as well as discuss broader citywide concerns.”
